NEW PRESENTATION & LORA SZAFRAN "You've changed"This "prizewinners
team" was a big surprise during the 1988 Jazz Jamboree Festival in
Warsaw. All five are'summa cum laude'graduates from Katowice Academy of
Music Jazz Department. However their main achievements were at the major
international jazz competition: Leverkusen'85-1-st Prize for New
Presentation, Kalisz'85-1-st Prize for Wojciech Niedziela, Zamosc'84-1-st
Prize for Lora Szafran. Her phenomenon, the mastery of Niedziela
brothers and the incomparable Piotr Wojtasik - all they, together with
North Texas University graduate Adam Buczek, make one of the best
European group dedicated to advanced mainstream jazz. Four years after
their initial success, they are subject of growing respect and
admiration. Among others there are such evergreens as "Lush Life"
and "Teach Me Tonight", unforgettable proofs of expression and
jazz identity. |
